Feature requests

Hi JSON Editor users,

Are there any features you would like implemented in our next version of the app?

We are eager to hear your suggestions.

  1. Hello,

I just purchased the 1.5 version and its exactly what I was looking for.

Since this is the feature request post, how about multiple views of the document. I would like to see the JSON and the Tree at the same time without having to toggle with CMD+OPT+J

    Thank you.

    1. Hey Trevor,

Thanks for your feedback and for purchasing JE. I will try to implement your suggestion in one of the next versions of the app.

    2. I was thinking while getting groceries...
I'm assuming your using MVC to develop and as such, you 'should' be able to have the view thats written for code view and the view thats written for tree view both be visible on separate windows.

Again thank you, I'm pleased with what it does as is!

This tool has already saved me an hour...and its only been 6 since I purchased.

    3. Trevor, there are a couple of challenges related to this side-by-side view, but probably the biggest is to keep in synch both views (I assume you want the edits in one view to automatically reflect in the other). With the current JE code this might be done with reasonable performance for small JSONs but for medium&large JSONs current code won't work.

  2. Just became a paying customer. Best json editor I've tried yet (I'm on my 4th editor).

    Two feature requests:
    1. From tree-editing mode, allow multi-selection of objects for copy and paste.
    2. There appears to be an inconvenient (but not incapacitating) bug where if you are editing a text field in tree view and you leave the object, you occasionally get an error that editing that particular object type is not yet implemented (which is patently untrue :) ).

  3. Thanks Jason. 2) should be easy to repro and fix so very probable will be in the next release.

  4. Just became a paying customer too. Good to see simple tools that can help with time consuming and tedious work.

    Feature Requests:

    - have an indication that a file hasn't been saved
    - +1 to the object view + text view side by side, i'm happy for the syncing to be manually triggered

    good work!

    1. Hey Raymond, related to "have an indication that a file hasn't been saved": You should already see the " - Edited" marker in the document's title bar. JSON Editor behaves just like TextEdit in this respect. If you have another case where the " - Edited" doesn't appear, but the document has unsaved changes, then just let me know.

  5. Hi. I love JSON editor, but currently there is no way (to my knowledge) of exporting HTTP requests. I've set up a lot of requests for testing my web services, and I'd like to export them and import them into JSON editor on my Laptop.

    Thanks
